Semester GPA & CGPA Calculator
Credit-weighted GPA for each semester and a running CGPA across all of them, on a grading scale you can correct to match your own institution.
Grading scale
These presets are the scales commonly reported for Nepali universities, not official published tables — sources contradict each other on several of them. Your own grade sheet is the authority, so check the grade points below against it and change any that differ.
Cumulative GPA
—
across 0 credit hours
CGPA is weighted by credit hours across every semester, not an average of the semester GPAs — a heavier semester counts for more.
Your grade sheet is the authority.
Grading scales differ between Nepali universities, between faculties and between programme levels, and published descriptions of them disagree. Set the scale above to match your own transcript before relying on the result.

Frequently asked questions
How is semester GPA calculated?+
Multiply each course’s grade point by its credit hours, add those products together, and divide by the total credit hours for the semester. A four-credit course therefore moves your GPA twice as much as a two-credit one. This is why dropping a heavy course, or doing badly in it, has an outsized effect.
What is the difference between SGPA and CGPA?+
SGPA is the grade point average for a single semester. CGPA is the average across every semester you have completed, weighted by credit hours rather than by semester — so a heavy semester pulls the CGPA more than a light one. Averaging your SGPAs together gives a different, and usually wrong, number.
Why can I edit the grading scale?+
Because Nepali universities differ from one another, and published descriptions of their scales contradict each other on the details — including pass thresholds and where particular letter grades sit. Rather than assert a scale that might be wrong for your programme, this calculator lets you set it to match your own grade sheet, which is the only authority that matters for your transcript.
Does this work for TU, KU, PU and CTEVT?+
Yes, and for private colleges and foreign-affiliated programmes too. Pick a preset as a starting point, then correct any grade point that does not match your grade sheet. The arithmetic is the same everywhere; only the letter-to-point mapping changes.
How do I convert my CGPA to a percentage?+
On a 4.0 scale the usual method in Nepal is to multiply by 25, and this page shows that figure. Read the notes on the converter page before putting it on an application abroad, because foreign institutions often apply their own conversion instead.
